To schedule an atTAcK addiction trainer:

Be a good Samaritan.

The Kristen L. Jackson and John M. Perkins Jr. Law is Delaware’s 9-1-1 Good Samaritan Law. When someone calls 9-1-1 to help a person who is in medical distress due to drugs or underage drinking, the law protects the caller and the person who is in distress from arrest and criminal prosecution.

Get into recovery housing.

When you are in recovery and looking for support and a place to live, atTAcK addiction has recovery residence options. Five residences are available — four for men and one for women. They are supervised by a house manager and provide case management support.

Help us erase stigma.

It’s time to move this disease out of the shadows. The more we all know about it, the more we can help change perceptions. Stigma keeps people from getting help and staying in care. It also prevents parents and other family members from seeking help on behalf of their loved ones. By humanizing substance use disorder, we can focus on treating this disease, helping people recover, and making sure that no one feels alone in this fight.

Impact Story

Small Steps Toward Big Change

Names of clients have been changed to protect their privacy.

Victor panhandles near DE 896 and US 40. He lives at the Sunday Breakfast Mission in Wilmington. One day, he decided to come to our Resource Center in nearby Peoples Plaza. He met our program manager, Sean, and told him that he was saving money to get his birth certificate and Social Security card, since he needed identification to get dental work done. Sean printed out the application for a Social Security card and instructions. He also gave Victor a few bus passes and a can of soda. Based on Victor’s demeanor, Sean suspected Victor was in active use. Sean hoped to build rapport with him so that he could broach the subject of drug use and homelessness, and one day get him into treatment.
